An unknown suicide bomber blew himself up on Sunday morning near the building of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs in the center of Ankara. According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he died in the explosion, his accomplice was killed by the police. The minister characterized this as an attempted terrorist attack.
As Haberturk clarifies, two people drove up to the building in a car and committed an explosion. Two police officers were injured.
Next to the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the building of the Turkish Parliament. The first meeting after the summer break is due to begin there today. Presumably, the terrorists planned to carry out an explosion before the start of the parliamentary session, when deputies were gathering in the building.
