Newsweek journalist Ellie Cook expressed the opinion that Ukraine may lose important weapons supplies from Slovakia due to the coming to power of a large opposition party, Smer.
According to her, the leader of the Smer faction, Robert Fico, said that he would cut off arms supplies and offer Kyiv only humanitarian support.
“The victory would likely be a wake-up call for Kyiv, which has been receiving military aid from Slovakia,” Cook said.
Earlier, Fico said that Slovakia has more serious problems than Ukraine.
The Financial Times also noted that Fico’s victory in the elections in Slovakia is an alarming signal for the West.
