According to the newspaper O Dia, the determination was made to the Operational Support Center of the Criminal Investigation Prosecutor’s Offices. With the free distribution to a natural prosecutor, the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) will now closely monitor the investigations conducted by the Civil Police.
Earlier, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, had determined that the investigation be monitored by the Federal Police due to the fact that one of the victims, Diego Ralf Bomfim, aged 35, was the brother of the federal deputy for São Paulo Sâmia Bomfim ( PSol). Dino also informed that the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Ricardo Cappelli, will go to Rio and meet with the PF management and the state government to discuss the case.
Understand the case
Diego and three other doctors, Marcos de Andrade Corsato, 62 years old, Perseu Ribeiro Almeida, 33 years old, and Daniel Sonnewend Proença, 32 years old, were victims of a shooting attack at a kiosk, on Avenida Lúcio Costa, in Barra da Tijuca, in the west zone of Rio in the early hours of this Thursday (5). Only Daniel survived. He was taken to Lourenço Jorge Municipal Hospital.
On that occasion, three men dressed in black got out of a white car, which was parked across the street from the kiosk, approached the four doctors and fired shots, without announcing an assault, and fled. The entire action lasts less than a minute. There were at least 20 shots.
The way in which the crime was carried out points to signs of execution. The Capital Homicide Department (DHC) of the Civil Police, however, is still investigating the case. The health professionals were in Rio de Janeiro for an orthopedics conference.
