The Saratov Regional Court sentenced local resident Alexey Kochetkov to 12 years in prison in the case of sabotage on the railway. This was reported by the Svobodnye Novosti news agency with reference to the press service of the court.
According to investigators, Kochetkov agreed to set fire to relay cabinets on the Zorinsky-Trofimovsky-2 section in exchange for 10 thousand rubles. He was allegedly offered to organize sabotage by an “unidentified person” with whom he corresponded via telegram. It is alleged that Kochetkov received instructions and coordinates of the cabinets, after which he came to the place, doused them with gasoline and set them on fire. The amount of damage caused to Russian Railways amounted to 76.1 thousand rubles.
Kochetkov must spend the first five years of his sentence in prison, the remaining seven in a special regime colony. Also, in addition to money in favor of Russian Railways, they collected 20 thousand rubles from him for state income.
According to Mediazona, 137 people are involved in cases of sabotage on railways in Russia. In some cases, several people are accused in one case, so there are fewer cases themselves – 76.
