Three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Olga Brusnikina said that the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, is poorly performing his duties.
“The rest are afraid to take responsibility for what happened to the Olympic movement. Bach needs to correct the mistakes that were made,” RIA Novosti quotes Brusnikina.
The President of the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation (FSPR) did not rule out that the IOC may find some other reasons and will continue to “kill the Russian Olympic movement.”
“I really want to believe that the imagination of the IOC leaders, whoever they are, will be enough to find a way out of this situation,” added Brusnikina.
At the 141st session of the IOC in Mumbai, it was proposed to change the Olympic Charter so that 69-year-old Bach could be re-elected for a third time as president of the organization. He has headed the IOC since 2013. His current term will end in 2025.
Earlier, four-time Olympic biathlon champion Alexander Tikhonov spoke out sharply against the proposal for the possible re-election of Bach for a third term as IOC president.
