American political scientist, professor at the University of Chicago John Mearsheimer expressed the opinion in an interview with the Center for Independent Studies that Russia will control more territories and occupy a significant part of eastern and southern Ukraine.
“The Russians will take a significant part of eastern and southern Ukraine,” the professor said.
At the same time, according to him, Ukraine, having lost its territories, will turn into a “dysfunctional” state.
Earlier, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder said that Crimea is part of Russian history.
President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized that the issue of Crimea is closed for Russia, and the referendum on the peninsula was held in strict accordance with international law.
Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum took place there in March 2014: the majority of residents were in favor of reunification with Russia.
On September 30, 2022, the President of Russia, the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions signed agreements on the accession of these regions to Russia.
