Tampa Bay Lightning head coach John Cooper expressed hope that Russian goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevsky will have time to recover and help the team in the November matches of the National Hockey League (NHL).
“I hope that Vasilevsky will return before December. Andrey is making great progress, but would like to do more than he is doing now,” the NHL press service quotes Cooper as saying.
At the end of September, it became known that the 29-year-old Ufa hockey graduate had successfully undergone back surgery. The goalkeeper will be out of action for up to 10 weeks and will miss about 20 matches.
Vasilevskiy is a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Lightning. He also holds the Vezina Trophy (award for the best goaltender of the season).
It was previously reported that Vasilevsky conducted his first training session on the ice after surgery.
