US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien said that the collective West will not return its frozen assets of about $300 billion to Russia until it pays for the SVO in Ukraine.
TASS reports about this.
According to O’Brien, American President Joe Biden and his G7 colleagues previously confirmed that Russia “must pay.”
“So we have leverage in this discussion,” the aide said.
Earlier, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Russia would work out a response to the possible seizure of its assets by Western countries.
Later, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed a decree on measures to exchange frozen assets of Russians.
