The Kizlyar City Court in Dagestan fined local resident Asiyat Magomedova under the article on “discrediting” the Russian army (20.3.3 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) because of a video installed in the WhatsApp status of the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty about the evacuation of civilians from Avdeevka, Kavkaz.Realii reports.
The video, which became the reason for the case of “discredit” against Magomedova, was about the wife and five-year-old son of a Ukrainian serviceman who were being evacuated from Avdeevka.
The court decision states that “as a result of viewing these resources, Magomedova formed a strong opinion that during the conduct of a special military operation by the armed forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, civilians are dying.”
In court, Magomedova repented and admitted that she did not know that the video she posted violated Russian law.
It is not reported how much the woman was fined. The administrative fine under the article on “discrediting” the Russian army ranges from 30 to 50 thousand rubles.
Earlier, Kommersant wrote that in 2022, 4,440 people were brought to administrative responsibility for “discrediting” the Russian army. And in the first half of 2023, the courts reviewed 1,690 reports and prosecuted 1,308 people. They were fined a total of 42.7 million rubles.
