Maxim Sokolov, an expert at the online hypermarket VseInstrumenty.ru, gave advice on what to do if a central heating pipe bursts.
First of all, you need to call a plumber from the housing office or call the emergency service, he said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.
The expert advised placing a bucket under the breakout site, and then de-energizing the room by turning off the switches on the panel. To reduce the pressure, you can throw a thick rag or towel over the pipe.
“Be careful if a breakthrough occurs at the height of the heating season: the water is hot, you can get burned. If you have a shut-off valve where you connect to the common house system, try turning it and turning off the water,” Sokolov said.
Further, according to him, before a specialist arrives, it is necessary, if possible, to collect water from the floor and control flooding. To clean up hot water safely, you should wear suitable shoes and rubber gloves, and open windows to help the water cool down faster.
After eliminating the leak, it is necessary to draw up a report and document the damage, the specialist added.
Previously, Olga Pyzhova, marketing director of the Sherry app, advised planning apartment renovations for the fall or winter in order to save money.
